Fight With Your Phantom Debt Collectors

Many people have a mentality about the debt collectors that they are not honest. So you should not be surprised to know that have make up debts to collect. Those people who are engaged in this phantom debt collection, are making the violation of Fair Debt Collection Practice Act. They often misrepresent the the amount you have to pay and for which they are not allowed. It is hard to keep a track of all the transaction we make. And there the phantom debt collectors play their part. So if you have any doubt then do not pay it.

To know if it is a Phantom Debt: The FDCPA allows you the right to verify a collector. You get 30 days from the day when the debt collector contacted you for the first time, to validate your debt. Then, the collector also get 30 days to prove that it owns the debt. If the collector fails to provide this proof, it won’t collect from you.

You need to stop the calls from the collectors: You need to send a written letter where you would request the phantom debt or any other debt collectors to not to contact you. But the collectors will contact you for the one last time to let you know some of these things:

They will not collect the debt anymore. They might take certain steps against you.

Report about phantom collectors: What ever these phantom debt collectors do to make up debts, is illegal. You can report to the Federal Trade Commission and the Better Business Bureau regarding such fakes. You can also take legal action against such agencies. You can report the collector to if they continually ignores your request and list your debt on your credit report card.
